I'm a software engineer, and over the past months I've been building Jikoo in my spare time. It's now at the point where I'd love feedback from other builders. The idea: if you've watched Dragon Ball, you might remember the Hyperbolic Time Chamber: an empty white room where a year of training fits into a day. Every time I sit down to study or practice, I wish I had a space like that, with nothing in it but the work. I also love opening a blank sketchbook. It's empty, nothing in it matters yet, and it's easy to throw away and start fresh. What it does: Jikoo gives you chambers. A chamber is a separate, minimal computer running inside yours, with only the apps you need: a writing chamber with an editor and a browser, a study chamber with notes and PDFs, a coding chamber with your dev tools. While you're inside, the rest of your computer isn't there. Each chamber can have focus timers and stats that count time while you're inside. You can throw chambers away and rebuild them fresh any time. If you code using AI agents like claude-code you can use Jikoo to work on multiple accounts in parallel without having to constantly switch. If you work with many clients as a freelancer it makes sense to open a box for each and remove it when you dont need it anymore. Building it: it's a desktop app that comes with its own engine for running chambers, so you don't have to install or set up anything else. The hardest parts were making chambers open quickly and feel like a normal desktop, and making it work offline with no account. Where it is: early (v0.2). Free during early access, notarized on Mac, and it updates itself. The Windows version works but isn't code-signed yet, so Windows will warn you the first time. What I'd love to know: Was making your first chamber easy, or did you get stuck somewhere? Is there a kind of work you'd want a chamber for that the templates don't cover? Does the idea make sense from the first look at the site? https://jikoo.app submitted by /u/UNSlGNED [link] [comments]
