Photoshop Variables and InDesign Data Merge can automate batch designs, but anyone who has used them knows the frustration: tedious setup, fragile text-delimited files, and zero intelligence when dealing with product imagery. Plus, InDesign isn't the primary home for designers who live and breathe inside Photoshop.
